Learn Primavera P6 from beginner to be a Professional
This guide is intended as a beginners guide to Primavera. By the end, you should be able to confidently enter information into Primavera, and be able to present it in a sharp and meaningful manner.
This guide will also look at resources, multiple layouts, progress reporting, filters, and target programmes.
The assumption when writing this guide is that Primavera has already been loaded onto the user’s computer. Further, it assumes no knowledge of Primavera by the user, but it does presume a level of computer literacy in the user.
The first thing to note about Primavera, and to bear in mind as you work through this tutorial, is that it saves every change made while you work. As such there is no simple “undo” button – any changes made can only be reversed by re-entering the data. When you exit the programme the only thing that you are asked to save is the layout that you have defined: everything else has been auto-saved.
A recommended way of using this guide is to follow the steps first on the example provided, then on a project which has more relevance to you.
Primavera does allow you to have more than one project open at any one time – simply open or create another project and you can move between the two projects at will by selecting the project from under the “Window” tab at the top of the page.
The purpose of risk management is to identify different types of risk, in the form of threats and opportunities that exist for a project and understand the impact they can have on the project's objectives.
Risk management also includes developing strategies to prevent undesirable risks, or threats, from occurring or to minimize their impact to the project if they do occur. Alternately, the management of opportunities involve attempts to maximize the probability of an opportunity occurring and to put in place strategies to realize the greatest benefit should the event occur.
Oracle Primavera Prime provides a set of risk management features that enable you to document all project risks and incorporate both qualitative and quantitative risk analysis techniques to determine the impact of risk on your project. Using the risk management tools provided by the application can give you a realistic and multi-faceted perspective of the threats and opportunities that exist for a project and how they can affect your project budget and schedule objectives.
Oracle Primavera Prime risk management offers the following features:
A risk register where you can log all project risks and prioritize them based upon your own risk scoring metrics.
The ability to run a Monte Carlo analysis on a project, incorporating schedule and risk data to produce probability curves showing expected time and cost outcomes and the probability of achieving each one.
The ability to develop risk response plans to address project risks and establish post-response scenarios that can be compared with pre-response results.
Oracle Primavera services project-intensive industries such as engineering and construction, aerospace and defense, utilities, oil and gas, chemicals, industrial manufacturing, automotive, financial services, communications, travel and transportation, healthcare, and government.
